On 4 and 5 August, Valls once again celebrated one of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer: Firagost 2026. For two days, the city’s streets came alive with local produce, crafts, tradition, culture and, above all, a vibrant atmosphere.
Once again, the Museu Casteller de Catalunya was delighted to take part in this celebration, which is so closely connected to the identity of Valls. Because if there is one thing Firagost and the world of human towers (castells) have in common, it is their commitment to keeping traditions alive through people, community and pride in their local heritage.
The World of Human Towers Takes to the Streets
Throughout the two days of Firagost, the Museum brought a small part of its experience to Plaça dels Quarters, offering a range of activities designed to help visitors of all ages to get closer to the world of castellers in a fun and interactive way.
Younger visitors added a splash of colour to the event with our human tower-themed face painting, an activity that brought plenty of smiles and memorable moments.
Technology also played its part. Using virtual reality headsets, visitors enjoyed a preview of the immersive Enxaneta 360º experience, which offers a unique perspective on human towers and allows participants to feel closer to the action, even if only for a few moments.
Looks of surprise, curiosity and an eagerness to try again accompanied us throughout both days.
From Firagost to the Museum
The programme also included a guided tour of the Museu Casteller de Catalunya, offering visitors the opportunity to step away from the bustling streets of Firagost and explore more than two hundred years of human tower history.
The visit provided an opportunity to discover how human towers have evolved, learn fascinating facts about this tradition and, above all, understand the people and values that make it possible.
Because talking about human towers means talking about trust, teamwork, perseverance and community. It means understanding that everyone has a role to play and that, to reach great heights, you first need a strong pinya — the supporting base of a human tower.
Traditions That Define Valls
Firagost and human towers. The land and the town square. Two different expressions of culture, yet deeply connected by their shared roots.
Take part in the Firagost allows us to bring the Museum beyond its walls and share the heritage of human towers in the heart of a city that, during these special days, pulses with a unique energy.
These two days were filled with reunions, conversations, smiles and shared cultural experiences. Small moments that remind us that traditions remain alive when we share them, pass them on and make them our own.
At the Museu Casteller de Catalunya, we would like to thank everyone who stopped by our stand, took part in the activities or visited the Museum, as well as all the people and organisations who, once again, made Firagost possible.
Thank you for being part of our pinya and sharing this experience with us. See you at Firagost 2027!
